GASTROPROTECTIVE ACTIVITY OF ETHYL ACETATE FRACTION OBTAINED FROM THE STEM BARK EXTRACT OF DESERT DATE (BALANITES AEGYPTIACA)

نویسندگان

چکیده

The study aimed to investigate the gastroprotective activity of ethyl acetate fraction derived from stem bark extract Desert date tree (EFDD) (Balanites aegyptiaca L. Delile; family Zygophyllaceae) using ethanol and indomethacin-induced ulcer models in Wistar rats. was conducted rats divided them into five groups (n=5). Group 1 received 10% Tween 20 (1 ml/kg), which served as control group. 2 administered standard drug, omeprazole (20 mg/kg). Groups 3-5 were doses 125, 250, 500 mg/kg, respectively, EFDD. Two used namely ethanol-induced ulcers ulcers. After administration respective treatments, evaluation mean indices each group calculation percentage inhibition compared carried out. results indicated that EFDD, at 250 significantly reduced both (p<0.05). This suggests EFDD possesses properties. In conclusion, exhibits activity. finding supports traditional use folkloric medicine for treatment However, further research is necessary explore underlying mechanisms responsible observed effects.

Management of Hyperglycaemia by Ethyl Acetate Extract of Balanites aegyptiaca (Desert Date).

Reactive oxygen species play a significant role in the pathogenesis of retinopathy in diabetes patients. The current study aimed to assess the effect of ethyl acetate extract (EAE) from Balanites aegyptiaca (10, 25 or 50 mg/kg b.w.) in experimental diabetic rats. To achieve this aim, five groups of male rats were included: control, diabetic, and diabetic rats treated with 10, 25, and 50 µg/kg b...
